How to Prepare to Begin Hiking
- First, make sure you are in proper physical condition to go hiking. Easy hikes are best for anyone with any medical conditions, but with conditions such as asthma or heart issues, a doctor should be consulted before beginning to hike, to ensure safety.
- Second, find a friend to go with you! Although you can go hiking on your own, it is much safer to bring company, as well as much more fun!
- Another good idea is that if you are just starting out as a hiker, you should start small and gradually go to more difficult conditions. You may be in great health, but starting out on too difficult a mountain could be very dangerous.
- Always stay on the trails of the mountain! Wandering off on your pown could result in you getting lost, and this is very dangerous, especially in the colder months.
- Lastly, make sure you have fun!
